US shoots down Chinese balloon: Coast guard imposes security zone around the debris The US military continues to search the waters off the coast of South Carolina for the wreckage of a Chinese spy balloon. It was shot down on Saturday after crossing North America. The Biden administration has drawn criticism from some Republicans for not shooting it down earlier, over land. But the Pentagon says that as the balloon's technical payload was roughly the size of a regional jet, and such an operation would have presented safety concerns. FRANCE 24's Bryan Quinn tells us more.
