US citizen George Glezmann freed by Taliban in Qatar-mediated deal Taliban authorities have freed US citizen George Glezmann after he spent more than two years in detention in Afghanistan, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Thursday. Glezmann, 66, was released after weeks of negotiations led by Qatari and US mediators and is on his way back to the United States.
