Tens of millions of birds culled, but avian influenza continues to spread For almost two years, the world has faced one of its worst bird flu pandemics, with outbreaks emerging in new regions, including in South America. In Cambodia, an 11-year-old girl died of the H5N1 bird flu virus last week, while her father contracted the disease as well. The World Health Organization has voiced concern about potential human-to-human transmission, but Cambodian authorities say that birds infected the father and daughter separately. Meanwhile, European farmers are calling for birds to be vaccinated to stop the epidemic. FRANCE 24's Science Editor Shirli Sitbon tells us more.
