Some Gaza residents with Israeli work permits unable to return home Hundreds of Gaza residents who were working in Israel when Hamas launched its deadly attack find themselves stranded in the West Bank, after Israel cut off access to the enclave. They are among some 18,000 Gaza residents who have work permits for Israel. Some workers say they chose to leave Israel out of fear of retaliation, while others say they were forced to go to the West Bank.
