'History of humanity' etched in granite in the California desert Felicity is a 2,600-acre (1,052-hectare) stretch of California's Sonoran Desert. For nearly four decades, Jacques-André Istel has been building a museum of human history there. "It is really the only place on this planet where history is written in granite on over 717 panels for visitors and scholars of the future to know something about our present history."
