Hatching of baby turtles in south of France puzzles scientists Turtles have inhabited our oceans for over 150 million years, ever since dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Yet today, six out of seven living species are considered endangered. They usually live in tropical waters. However, since the late 2000s, one species - the loggerhead sea turtle - has been coming to lay its eggs in the south of France.
