Confronting sexism, racism and clichés in video games Long gone are the days when the average video game player was a White male. Women now make up as much as half of the world's gamers, with racial minorities also representing a growing share of players. But gaming platforms have struggled to adequately address sexist and racist abuse on their platforms, leaving gamers themselves to take up the challenge. Activists are also tackling the issue of representation, hoping to make creators and characters more reflective of the diversity behind the screens. For more, we spoke to the founder of "Afrogameuses", an organisation working towards better visibility of minorities in video games.
